Sports Institute for Northern Ireland 

The Sports Institute for Northern Ireland is a partnership between the Sports Council for Northern Ireland and the University of Ulster.  The Institute aims to provide specialist services and key facilities for up to 120 able bodied and disabled, international and national sportsmen and women to enable them to improve their competitive capacity within the world’s sporting arena. 

The core purpose of the Institute is:  

 

“to create an environment that nurtures and leads elite athletes and coaches through the provision of facilities, services and expertise.”

The Institute offers elite sports people and their coaches priority access to the following support services:

 

strength and conditioning

sports medicine

physiotherapy

sports Science

athlete Career and Education guidance

high performance planning

It promotes excellence and is one of  12 network centres throughout the United Kingdom.  The long term goal of the Institute is to produce: 

“Consistent medal winning performances”
