Getting started is all about giving young people a sound start to their involvement with sport. It is about providing children with enjoyable and rewarding first experiences of sport. The Sports Council believes that this can be made to happen by:
- Training parents, teachers and coaches to
ensure young people are given the best advice and encouragement;
- Offering children a wide variety of mini or
modified games suited to their age and stage of development;
- Ensuring there are locally available clubs to which children can go to further their interest in sport
The Sports Council for Northern Ireland has developed a number of resources
to help you work with young people. Copies of these resources can
be obtained from the Sports Council .
