VACANCY - SKIPPER - LORD RANK

 

From its main office in Belfast, Ocean Youth Trust Ireland (OYTI) provide and administer a comprehensive and challenging programme of Adventurous Sailing for young people from all areas of Ireland.

 

OYTI own and operate an Oyster 68 ketch, Lord Rank, purposely designed and fitted out to provide young people the opportunity to share the challenges of crewing a tall ship at sea. Our homeport is Bangor and our regular cruising ground includes Irish Sea ports, the Isle of Man and The Clyde. Lord Rank will participate in the 2005 Tall Ships Race.

 

A vacancy has arisen for the position of Permanent Staff Skipper with a

commencement date of March 2005.

 

Experience of working in a sail training environment is a pre requisite.  You will hold as a minimum, RYA Yachtmaster Offshore (with Commercial Endorsement) and a Cruising Instructor qualification. Previous OYT sailing experience is an advantage.

 

Good communication skills and the ability to work with young people are essential requirements for the post. Equally important is a desire and willingness to develop sail training modules as a positive step towards behavioural change in young people
