MOTORSPORTS REPORT DELIVERED BY CONSULTANTS

The sharp increase in fatal accidents experienced recently within Motorcycling Road Racing has prompted a series of reviews relating to the wider motorsports operation within Northern Ireland.

At the request of the Minister for Culture, Arts and Leisure, Michael McGimpsey MLA, the Sports Council for Northern Ireland commissioned International Motorsports Ltd, a subsidiary part of the Motorsports Association, to undertake a study aimed at reviewing the existing short circuits and determining the demand, viability and feasibility of establishing a Regional Motorsports Facility. The IMS Ltd today presented their report to representatives of DCAL, Sports Council and the Governing Bodies of Motorsports. Following consideration of the report findings the key partners will seek to establish how best to take forward the development of Motorsports within Northern Ireland. Copies of the Report will be available shortly on the Sports Council’s website .
