YOUTH SPORT FOYLE – LAURUS AWARD

In November Youth Sport Foyle received its first allocation of money as part if the Sport For Good Foundations – Laurus Award. The sum of IR£86.000, has been paid into Youth Sport Foyle accounts and over the next twelve months Development Officers, Aileen McGlynn and Bernie O’Callaghan will be using this funding to further enhance the Youth Sport Foyle project.

A series of weekend residentials will be held involving over 60 young people in sessions at Gortatole and Gartin, with outside facilitators being brought in over the weekend to work with these young people in classroom based sessions to complement the work they will be doing in the outdoors.
The funding package will also enable the Development Officers to provide:
  • 10 cross border fun sports days
  • 10 simmer sports festivals
  • Transport for Youth Sport in rural schools Coach education courses
