School Sports Co-ordinators are teachers working in secondary schools and who are also committed to providing an extended range of after school sporting activities for pupils in primary schools. School sport co-ordinators are a vital part of the development of Youth Sport in Northern Ireland.

What does a School Sport Co-ordinator do? They:

  • develop a quality after school sports programme and recruit coaches to deliver this programme
  • liaise and support sport in a minimum of 4 neighbourhood primary schools
  • manage an extra curricular programme in their own school involving all young people
  • publicise and promote programmes
  • develop staff, parents and Boards of Governors support
  • encourage optimum use of facilities
