Elite Facilities Programme
for
Northern Ireland Olympic/Paralympic Sports
Governing bodies of specified Olympic sports requirements:
In order to facilitate the development of applications to the Elite Facilities Programme for Northern Ireland’s Olympic Sports, it is necessary to provide detailed technical, operational and high performance information to applicant organisations.
This will enable applicant organisations to ascertain if their application is likely to be deemed eligible to apply to this programme and hence meet the minimum requirements of the governing body of the appropriate Olympic sport. It will also inform applicant organisations of how to compete more favourably against some of the assessment criteria specified for the programme and hence meet, to a greater extent, the desirable requirements of the governing body of the appropriate Olympic sport.
Finally it will ensure that the SCNI can coordinate the assessment to ensure:
- transparency and accountability;
- the effectiveness of the evaluation criteria to identify only the most successful applications for the specified sports.
Governing bodies of sport have provided the following main requirements for the appropriate Olympic sports. It should be noted that these documents will be subject to further assessment by the SCNI. Furthermore the Governing Bodies of Sport reserve the right to amend these documents, as appropriate, at subsequent programme stages.
1. Essential and desirable technical requirements.
- Essential: These must be met by applicant organisations as a minimum eligible requirement for the stage one Elite Facilities Programme application.
- Desirable: This will be an assessment criterion for the stage one Elite Facilities Programme application that will receive allocated scores.
2. Essential and desirable operational requirements.
- Essential: This must be met by applicant organisations as a minimum eligible requirement for the stage one Elite Facilities Programme application.
- Desirable: This will be an assessment criterion for the stage one Elite Facilities Programme application that will receive allocated scores.
3. Long-term high performance strategy and needs.
This will inform both the eligibility and assessment criteria of the stage one Elite Facilities Programme application. It is required to ensure that the applicant organisation future proofs capital design work, legal agreements, management arrangements etc. to facilitate high performance needs of the future.
