Ireland’s Ladies Aiming For Athens

Jenny McDonough and Suzanne Beaney of Belfast Harlequins Hockey Club recently visited the Sports Council as they prepare for the Olympic Qualifiers Tournament in New Zealand.  Jenny and Suzanne are two of nine Ulster hockey players who are flying to New Zealand next Tuesday to represent Ireland in the event.

Ireland’s Ladies Hockey Team hope to qualify in the top five, and if they achieve this, they will be heading to Athens in the summer to compete in the Olympics.

The girls are funded by the Sports Council for Northern Ireland Talented Athlete Scheme.
